VESTRY

The Vestry of the Church of the Good Shepherd is made up of the Rector of the Parish, The Rector’s Warden, the People’s Warden, the Treasurer, the Assistant Treasurer, and the Clerk - with nine vestry persons elected in three rotating classes.

The Vestry functions to support the Rector’s ministry and the ministry of the lay folk of the parish. The Vestry is organized through committee to oversee and encourage Christian Education, Music and Liturgy, Stewardship and Finance, and future planning.

The Rector’s Warden is the chief lay officer and sees to the Rector’s needs and presents them to the Vestry. The People’s Warden is a chief lay officer and sees to the people of the parish’s needs and concerns as well as property. The Treasurer keeps the Vestry informed of expenditures, income, and when necessary reminds them of the limitations of the budget. The Clerk certifies vestry action, keeps records, and most importantly certifies to the vestry those who have a vote at the Annual Meeting of the Parish.

All Parish funds are under the control of the Vestry by Canon Law. All baptized persons are welcome to serve on the Vestry. The officers of the Vestry must be confirmed communicants. Everyone who serves on the Vestry is expected to WORK, PRAY, AND GIVE for the spread of the Kingdom of God.
