Event news & Notes

MORNING PRAYER: The service of Morning Prayer will be said this week Monday through Thursday at 9AM.  Please join the Interim Rector in this ministry of prayer. It takes about 25 minutes. This form of worship can be found in the Prayer Book starting on page 75.

 

MONDAY NIGHT LIGHTS:

June 28 Book discussion on Perelandra, by C. S. Lewis.  This is the seequel to Out of the Silent Planet, and some of us think it is even better.
 
Come and check it out. The discussions are informal, and no previous knowledge or expertise is expected or needed. Great fun!

 

FLEA MARKET: The next flea market will be on Saturday, June 12th from 8am - 2pm. See the sign-up sheet in the Undercroft or call Peter Boppert at 799-2760 to ask how you can help.

 

Movie Night:   June 12th,  Adults only.  It's Complicated.   121 minutes R rated

Ten years after their divorce, Jane (Meryl Streep) and Jake (Alec Baldwin) enjoy an amicable friendship. When the two unite for their son's college graduation, their romance is rekindled. But Jake is married, and Jane's architect, Adam (Steve Martin), has a thing for her. Now cheating on the younger woman for whom he left Jane, Jake wants his ex-wife back. But Jane's busy getting to know Adam. Nancy Meyers (Something's Gotta Give) wrote and directed this Golden Globe-nominated comedy.  Doors open at 6:30 p.m., movie starts at 7:00 p.m.  Snacks and drinks served. Bring a chair or blanket to sit on. 

 

Rummage Sale: Friday June 4, 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., Saturday, June 5, 9:00 a.m. - p.m.   Clothing, shoes, pocketbooks, accessories, games, puzzles, toys, books, dvd's, linens, kitchen and household items.  HELPERS NEEDED!!  May 31 - June 3, hours at your convenience, to lay out the donations, and clean up and pack up on Saturday 12 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. Sign up in the Undercroft.  Questions, call Elaine Swirsky  203-795-6809.

 

FREE DEANERY WIDE PARISH PICNIC: All Welcome: Bring Family and Friends  Sunday, June 6, 2010, noon to 4:00 p.m.  Ansonia Nature Center.  It is potluck, appetizers, salads, main dishes, desserts and soft drinks.  Plenty of games, horseshoes, bocci, badminton, volleyball, playground on premises, as well as ball field for wiffle ball and bats.  Included; pavilion, restrooms, electricity, tables, fireplace and upper parking lot.  Handicapped accessible.  Bring folding chairs.  No alcoholic beverages allowed

Healing Service:  On June 6th we will include a healing prayers at the alter rail at the 10 a.m. service.

 

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: There are openings at the Church for the following positions: Church School Coordinator, Acolyte Mom, Church Outreach and Youth Group Co-Coordinator.  Please see a Warden or call the office. 

 

COFFEE/LEMONADE HOUR: There are several dates open to host coffee hour. There are directions on what to do on next to the sign up sheet in the Undercroft.

 

ALTAR FLOWERS: There are dates available to sign up for Altar flowers. If you would like to honor a deceased loved one please sign up in the Undercroft or call the office.
